Slackers

Slackers
Already taking Europe and America by storm, this summer will see the urban sport of Slacklining emerge from an underground scene and burst into the UK mainstream market. Maverick Industries is proud to announce the launch of the new Maverick Slackline, the ideal set up to help wannabe slackers embrace this new craze and keep fit in a fun & social setting.

Slacklining is a new dynamic balance sport, which involves walking, balancing, bouncing and even flipping on a stretchy line tensioned between two trees or anchor points. The sport was born in California in the late 1970s, when climbers practiced balancing on chains around car parks and later rigged up webbing to walk across.

Maverick Industries is run by a team of skateboarders and surfers, who discovered slacklining as an enjoyable way to improve balance and it very quickly became ingrained in their lifestyles. The basic principles are to balance on the line and walk to the other end without falling off.  Once this is mastered, slackers can tackle freestyle moves such as jumps, flips and yoga positions.

A truly addictive sport, the Maverick Slackline was developed to fulfill the growing demand for a quality product in the UK. The Maverick Slackline enables users to get the thrill of a skill and improve fitness, focus, balance and core strength in the great outdoors.

Russell Holbert, director of Maverick says: “The new Maverick Slackline is a fantastic piece of kit. As it's lightweight and takes just seconds to set up, it's never been easier to get a session going in a park, on the beach, over water, the possibilities are endless. We are looking forward to seeing all the local parks and beaches covered in our orange slacklines this summer, as friends and families compete with each other to see who can walk the line."

Maverick Slackline crews are currently touring the UK visiting schools, colleges and leisure centres offering taster sessions, as well as taking part in various events - including this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Maverick Slacklines retail at £48.99 and are available to buy online at www.maverickslacklines.co.uk For further information and to join Maverick Slacklining Clubs across the UK, visit www.facebook.com/maverickslacklines .
