James Davis is The Fitness BloggerMe and My Son Harris Harris James Davis was born on the 19th of May 2010, it was about this time I decided it was time to make a change.
Harris is our third child, we also have two beautiful daughters Hollie (6) and Autumn (3) so being a Dad was not new to me in-fact this time everything was a lot less stressful. However during my wife’s third pregnancy I was eating a lot of food and most of it was junk food… I often joked I was eating for two out of sympathy!! This combined with changes to my role at work and having young children at home had lead to a severe lack of exercise.. And my weight was at its all time heaviest when Harris was born. Even my baggy t-shirts were starting to feel tight around my belly, My waist band size had been slowly getting larger and my usual 32” waist was now a 36” and growing!! When I look back at pictures I now can see how overweight I was, but at the time it had been a gradual increase so I did not feel like I had put that much weight on!! I was also now the wrong side of thirty and whereas during my late twenties I was always on average about 10 and a half stone, the scales had now hit 13 stone! And for a little guy (5ft 6”) this is quite heavy, at the time my BMI was about 29.4 and I was borderline obese. Relating this back to the birth of my son, I now knew I wanted to lose weight, to get fit and healthy and I also knew that if I did not do it NOW it would be too late.. I started reading about all the health complications that were associated with being overweight and this really hit home hard… if I did not change my lifestyle I might not see my children grow up.. I did not want to be an unhealthy parent who got out of breath just from a kick about in the park..
