Brits face Flab February!

Brits face Flab February!

Motivational dips mean only a third of New Year health and fitness regimes will survive past today!

1st of February, 2012 – With the first month of the Olympic year over the nation is in danger of facing Flab February as two thirds admit to giving up their 2012 health regime by the 1 February. A third (30%) of people had already given up within the first week of January, whilst for another third (32%) the end of January marks the occasion when the diet is ditched.

When asked why they gave up their fitness regimes by Fitbit, America’s fastest growing fitness and wellbeing brand that is now in the UK, a fifth found it impossible to fit it into their daily lifestyle, whilst finding it boring was next, followed by being constantly tired and not seeing any results. One in ten stopped feeling motivated after they found it difficult to track the impact of what they were doing.

Gareth Jones, VP and European General Manager for Fitbit, said:

“Of all years, 2012 is the year when we as a nation should be getting fit and healthy. It doesn’t have to be as extreme as The Biggest Loser; from getting off the bus a stop early to walking up the escalator, taking simple steps can help you stay motivated for longer and go from flab to fab.”

Those that have made it through to Feb are being advised to get as much support as possible as people’s motivation levels take a dive not just through the year but through the day.

One in five (22%) find the hour between 3pm and 4pm the most demotivating part of their day. From colleagues being at low ebb to mums picking children up after school, people are less motivated during the end of the day and may struggle to motivate themselves to exercise.

Two thirds (64%) of Brits don’t get enough exercise even though 78% are concerned about their fitness levels, with 17% very concerned. Women are more likely than men to be worried (82% v 72%)

The Fitbit Ultra wireless activity tracker automatically syncs information to a personal web profile on Fitbit.com , helping those looking to get and stay fitter and healthier to monitor and manage their daily activity and remain motivated.
